Saudi's Valentine rose bad boots prices

  • Saudi Arabia: Sunday, February 17 - 2008 at 11:28

Prices on red roses, increased fivefold in Saudi Arabia in the run-up to Valentine's Day, as shops were forced to sell them under the counter following a ban by the country's religious police, reported Seattle Times. The religious police, or Muttawa, banned all red items from shop shelves. The ban was enforced by squads of the country's Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, who raided florists and gift shops on the eve of Valentine's Day.
