The nine-day DSF signature event will witness the participation of designers from places like Lebanon, the Indian Sub-Continent, UK, USA, Australia, and Cyprus.

The opening day of the event featured 2 Lebanese designers, Antoine Al Kareh for the amateur category and Akil Al Fakih, also from Lebanon, for the established designers category.

Suhaila Gobash, DSF Events Manager said, 'Following the overwhelming success of Dubai Fashion 2008, we are now looking forward to an eventful edition of Creations 2008. This year's edition sees participants from as far as Australia, affirming the reputation that Creations has garnered in a short space of time.'

'Providing an opportunity for talented fashion designers is one among the initiatives of DSF to contribute to the wider aim of promoting Dubai as the region's fashion hub,' she added.

'With its continued support of 'Creations', BurJuman creates yet another opportunity for Dubai to witness emerging and established talents, adding to Dubai's fashion landscape while giving designers the opportunity to showcase their designs to the public,' said Ms. Sabina Khandwani, Head of PR & Marketing, BurJuman.

Creations 2008 will include nine amateur and nine established designers in daily shows at the BurJuman Observatory opposite the Virgin Megastore. The first day of Creations 2008 featured the designs of Antoine El Kareh and Akl Fakih.

Antoine El Kareh, an amateur designer from Lebanon, is known for winning the best Designer title in the popular televised fashion show 'Mission Fashion' on LBC channel. The designer showcased some exquisite creations in evening wear by combining different materials with extensive lace work.

The second show for the day featured the designs of Akl Fakih, an established designer also from Lebanon. Akl Fakih's collections were mainly centred on fine embroidery with a couple of wedding dresses also presented during the show.

On Feb 16, the M & A Abaya Art retail outlet will showcase sheilas and abayas in the first show and Camelle Daley, from the UK, will present the Image Divine Autumn 2008 collection.

Creations - the Young Fashion Designer's Dream, was initiated during DSF 2004 to provide a platform for upcoming fashion designers in the region. Cutting across nationalities and backgrounds, the event is a sought-after launch-pad for aspiring fashion designers.
