UAE plans new rules for tobacco companies

All tobacco companies in the UAE will have to carry health messages with appropriate graphic images by 2010, reported Khaleej Times. Dr Wedad Al Maidoor, the UAE's head of the Smoking Cessation Committee at the Ministry of Health, said the move is aimed at reducing the number of smokers in the country and the incidence of second-hand smoke, which is a growing concern among non-smokers.
