Starlink reaches out to the community during ROTA Wheels 'n Heels Fun Day
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, February 05 - 2008 at 14:27
- PRESS RELEASE
As Qatar-based charity organisation Reach out to Asia (ROTA) held its third Wheels 'n Heels community Fun Day on Saturday, Starlink, Qatar's premier telecommunications and media entertainment retailer, was out in full support again this year.
Starlink's brownstone grandstand provided the backdrop to exciting football and basketball action led by Qatar's national basketball and football teams helping to promote sport as a fun and worthwhile activity.
In keeping with the Wheels 'n Heels theme of healthy living, Starlink also worked with the Diet Shop who participated on Starlink's stand as well as in their own capacity in the Food court area to encourage a more health-conscious public.
"Starlink often sponsors events, but few are as fun or rewarding as Wheels 'n Heels. ROTA is a charity that is championing the cause of education for all and making great strides in improving the lives of people all over the world. This is a cause that Starlink is proud to support", said Starlink CEO Alan Sinfield.
Starlink's sponsored football shoot-out and basketball slam-dunk demonstrations drew large crowds as Qatar's sports stars showed off their skills. Among the day's top giveaways were 2 brand new blackberry pearl handsets, which Starlink awarded to the competition winners.
BlackBerry smart phones are flying off the shelves here in Doha, just two weeks after the service was launched. Starlink is the sole distributor for BlackBerry in Qatar and is supplying the country's key industries with the long-awaited BlackBerry Internet Solution (BIS) to enable and enhance their business capabilities.
"We look forward to being involved in the ROTA's Wheels 'n Heels for many years to come as we watch the residents of Qatar embrace a healthier, more active lifestyle", Mr. Sinfield concluded.
