Korea Petroleum Association Co and Index Holding to co-organize Asia Oil and Gas Show

The Korea Petroleum Association (KPA) has held a meeting recently with Index Holding regarding the Asia Oil and Gas Show 2008, scheduled on 25 to 27 June, organized collectively by Index Conferences and Exhibitions Organization and Korea Petroleum Association in Seoul South Korea.

This event gained the support of leading International organizations engaged in oil, Gas, and energy industry.

The Korea Petroleum Association delegation was headed by was Mr. Kim Seng Ki Chairman of KPA. Senior members of the KPA also came as representatives, namely Mr. Kim Young Cheol, KPA General Manager; Mr. Lee Joo Yong, Korea National Oil Company (KNOC) General Manager; Mr.Park Shin Woo, SK Energy Assistant Manager; Mr. O Mun Hyun, GS Caltex Deputy General Manager; Mr. Kim Jae IL, Hyundai Oil Bank Manager; Mr. Lee Joon Yung, SK Gas, Assistant Manager; and Mr. Kwon Dong Chul, E1 Corporation, Assistant Manager.

Mr. Abdul Salam Al Madani President INDEX Holding and Jumma Buamim President of the Regional Clean Sea Organization (RECSO) and the Chair of Asia Oil and Gas 2008 Conference and Dr. Ahmed Al Banna member of Board Member of Arab Exhibitions Organization represented the UAE side.

The importance of the oil and gas to the Asia-Pacific region, which has traditionally suffered from the shortage of the natural resources, has dramatically increased nowadays. With this trend, Asian oil, gas, and its related industry, such as petrochemical, plant construction, ship-building, IT and automation system and so on, have been also developed in parallel with the expansion of the Asian oil and gas market.

Mr. Kim Seng Ki Chairman of KPA said, "This important event will be the first international oil and gas industry exhibition to be hosted in Korea, with the Korea Petroleum Association. Participating exhibitors will gain the opportunity to and from the Asian continent with a true global outlook for business-to-business environment."

Also, the exhibiting outcome is expected to be high as Korea is the fourth-biggest oil importing country and the seventh-biggest oil consuming country in the world and geographically located closely to other major oil and gas consuming countries like China and Japan. In addition to this, being the uppermost marine and ship-building technology possessing country in the world, Korea is regarded as the best place to host the 'Asian Oil and Gas Show' in the Asian-Pacific region. He added, "We would support this event and extend all possible assistance to make it a real success."

Abdul Salam Al Madani President of INDEX Holding the organizer of the show said the prime supporters of this significant show are OPEC the twelve member's organization OPEC as the main player in the oil and gas industry in the entire world. The Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries OAPEC has also initiated the support of Asia Oil and Gas Show 2008.

He added, "The Show gained the support of the Regional Clean Sea Organization RECSO. The prime objective of RECSO is to protect the marine environment in the Gulf Region from pollutions. The Association of British Offshore Industries and British Ports and Terminals Group the affiliates of the Society of Maritime Industries the voice of the United Kingdom maritime business sector support have also extended their support.

Abdul Salam Al Madani said a sizable number of national and multinational companies actively operating in the oil and gas industry in the Gulf Region, the Middle East and internationally came forward to support and reserve space in the exhibition. The upcoming Oil and Gas Show designed to accommodate country pavilions and individual companies.

Khamis Jumma Buamim President of RECSO and the Chairman of Asia Oil and Gas Show 2008 welcomed the visiting Korean delegation. He said, "The economic relations between Korea, the UAE and other Gulf countries is witnessing encouraging developments in the recent years especially after the visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum UAE Vice President, Prime Minster and Ruler of Dubai to Korea last year. Asia Oil and Gas 2008 show will be a historic economic and technical international gathering."

The conference will address issues associated with the world oil and gas industry with special emphases on Asia and the Pacific. Outlook of Asia's oil and gas, the Asian refining industry, the Asian oil and gas market , new ventures , finance and opportunities, oil and gas service industry, projects management and environment are the subjects to be addressed by the conference, said Buamim.

Asia Oil and Gas Show is also supported by the Arab Exhibitions Organization. We will extend our support to this important and significant The Gulf Region and Asia Pacific have maintained for many years excellent economic and trading relationships. We need these relations to develop in all fields said Dr. Ahmed Al Banna the Board Member of Arab Exhibitions Organization.

It is worth mentioning that Korea Petroleum Association has now regular member firms namely the SK Energy Corporation, the GS-Caltex Oil Corporation, the S-Oil Corporation, and the Hyundai Oil bank Corporation, along with one special member firm (the Korea National Oil Corporation) and other associate member firms, which are all participating in oil exploration and development projects abroad.

The Association aims to attain a sound and systematic development of the petroleum industry through promotion of mutual understanding and maintenance of friendly relations among member firms. It also intends to contribute to the formulation of petroleum policy by the government so as to secure a stable supply of petroleum, the most important energy source in Korea.
