The opening takes on greater significance than usual as the UAE is now the first country outside of the UK to have over 50 trading outlets.

Costa Coffee was started in London by Italian brothers Sergio and Bruno Costa in 1971. Their small family business was bought by Whitbread in 1995 and has since grown to over 800 stores in 19 countries, but still remains true to its Italian heritage. The company has built its reputation on the excellence of its coffee and the quality of the food and the service it provides.

Geoff Upham, Costa's Franchise Director for the Middle East, said,

"We're very excited by the opening of over 50 outlets in the UAE. Since we have come to the Middle East it has been clear that there are many Coffee lovers here that appreciate the Costa experience, it is for that reason that we have been able to reach this milestone of over 50 stores and we don't plan to stop there."
