Sheikh Nahyan inaugurates Sweihan campus

H.E Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mabarak Al Nahayan Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, President of Zayed University inaugurated Zayed University's Sweihan campus.
The 183 cadets admitted to the Sweihan campus from the United Arab Emirates' Armed Forces have attended student orientation earlier this month following the same academic model as their counterparts at Zayed University's Abu Dhabi and Dubai campus.
In his inaugural speech His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mabarak Al Nahayan stressed the importance of opening a branch of Zayed University in Sweihan as part of the University's goal in responding and contributing to the needs of the process of cultural and educational and scientific development in the UAE.
He added that the Sweihan campus was established to offer cadets from the UAE's armed forces a level of higher education that meets international standards as a gesture of appreciation to these brave troops who play a vital role in protection of our country, he went on to add that establishing the Sweihan campus is an initiative which will encourage the enrollment of more male students to study at the university in the future.
His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mabarak Al Nahayan also praised the continuous support of H.H Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, in addition to expressing his deep gratitude to the interest His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces has always shown in the on going process of development of higher education in the UAE .
He then addressed the cadets enrolled in Zayed University's Sweihan expressing his confidence that each student will be able to handle the responsibility that lies ahead of them.
H.E Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim Vice President of Zayed University said: "The long term goals Zayed University hopes to achieve through it's Sweihan Campus is offering the students baccalaureate programs in IT, Education, Communication & Media Sciences, Business Administration and Health Sciences; as we plan for the program's intake to grow by about 50 more students per year, so that in it's second year 250 students will be enrolled, but in the meantime the startup program offered to the 183 cadets is the Academic Bridge Program (ABP), in addition to a developmental math and computer component".
He added that Zayed University's Sweihan Campus is the first higher educational institute to be established in Sweihan which emphasises Zayed University aims to establish links with different international and local academic institutions and scientific research centers throughout the world.
H. E Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim praised the great interest His Highness President Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has constantly shown in the U.A.E's educational environment and the unlimited support of General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces to the development of the educational strategy of higher education institutes to introduce the latest scientific methods and programs that enhance leadership abilities in Emirati students.
