Qatar Today Green Awards is partnered by HSBC

Qatar Today Green Awards - Qatar's first environmental award gets HSBC on board as the presenting partner.

Incorporated to recognize the initiatives taken by corporate, institutions, schools and individuals towards a better and greener environment, these awards will spread the message not only in Qatar, but throughout the region.

The Qatar Today Green Awards is driven with the motto 'Recycle, Reduce and Reuse' and with an objective to appreciate and applaud the efforts and new ideas by businesses and individuals towards improving and implementing environmental programs.

The awards are divided into various categories, 'Best public awareness campaign', 'Best eco-friendly organisation', 'Green school award' etc. \

Institutions will be invited and or nominated to present their activities that have created a positive impact in the environment. Participants can nominate themselves by on www.qtgreenawards.com.

Panels of judges will shortlist winners in each category and they would be felicitated in a grand award function.

The formal partnership agreement was signed on 12th February.

Speaking about Qatar Today Green Awards Mr. Ravi Raman, Sr.Business Manager Oryx advertising Co. W.L.L (OAC) said "As a media house we are committed in responsible consumption of natural resources and spreading awareness. We have aimed to constantly inform readers about best practices and this time we aim to inspire them to follow suit. The Climate Partnership that was formed in May 2007 is just one of many milestones on our records. In Qatar we have been very active over the last 12 months, creating an awareness amongst scholars and employees about the importance of conducting business in an environmentally friendly way.

Partnering with Qatar Today to support the Green Awards for 2008, is yet another opportunity to enhance the awareness of the importance of actions by all corporates as well as individuals. We are hoping to see a great number of entries and a change in the attitudes of our communities." said Mr. Robert DeGama, Deputy CEO and chair person of the Corporate Responsibility Committee at HSBC Qatar.
