- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, February 17 - 2008 at 12:57
- PRESS RELEASE
The Center for Career Guidance and Planning (CCGP) of the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority, Tanmia has Sunday, February 17, 2008, launched the fourth annual Tanmia-Damas Career Quiz at Tanmia headquarters in Dubai.
Over 100 students from the three participating universities will be taking part in the quiz; preliminary rounds will be conducted in March and April 2008 in each school, with the top four of each college or university to take part in the finals. The finals will again coincide with the DWTC-sponsored 8th Careers UAE Exhibition to be held from April 15-17, 2008. The overall winner will receive a trophy and gifts from perennial event sponsor Damas.
Feddah Lootah, Acting General Manager, Tanmia, said, "We again thank Damas for its unwavering support of this annual competition, the various schools for giving their students the opportunity to compete, and DWTC for making this event an ideal match for UAE Careers. The quiz was highly successful last year, as participants enjoyed themselves and it was an entertaining occasion. We will continue to promote this event as a tool for making our youth more aware of the UAE's vast employment opportunities and job requirements."
"Our support for Tanmia is a small way for us to participate in the nation's growth; we at Damas believe that our business gains are limited unless they are leveraged to invest in national development. We have faith that today's youth will be the future leaders of the country's economic progress; we are also excited to see a more skilled and prepared Emirati workforce. This competition is an effective means to achieving this end," said Maryem Al Mor Bin Hariz, Manager, Damas Social and Cultural Affairs Department.
International jewellery group Damas started with a single shop in 1907 and has since grown into a trade network with more than 250 showrooms throughout the world. The jeweller's commitment to quality and its solid leadership led to its winning the exclusive De Beers Award in 2000 and 2004 for jewellery design. Following its vision of supporting national development, Damas established a Social and Cultural Affairs Department to assist in various educational, cultural and social activities.
