The strategy focuses on areas that will support women achieve work-life balance; nurture potential women leaders; provide life-long opportunities to trainees as well as employed women; cultivate conscientious citizens, and build the women leadership in the UAE.

Dubai Women's Establishment is keen to foster an enabling environment for women to quickly adapt to the dynamic needs of the community. This can be realized only through a comprehensive strategy that is flexible enough to incorporate current requirements but solid enough to ensure continuous and adequate support to women."

The DWE Board pledged to ensure a seamless and steady progress towards achieving the objectives spelt out in the strategy, which aims to help women strengthen their effective presence and significant participation across all economic sectors. It will also channel the Establishment's efforts to raise awareness on the capabilities of women through a wide range of initiatives that seek to increase their involvement in shaping the country's future.

A Women's Social Leadership Programme, as well as an Annual Women's Leadership Forum are some of the initiatives that the strategy aims to implement.

Al Marri said: "While the Establishment will initiate all necessary steps to create the best possible environment for women to contribute to the country's development, women on their part must demonstrate a commitment and firm determination to widen their role in serving the nation."

Through scientific methods and international best practices, the Establishment's five-year strategy has been carefully devised to address the specific needs of women in the region, with provisions to eventually expand its scope and include partnerships on the regional and international level.
