Gulftainer Diamond Sponsor of the Khorfakkan International Athletics Meeting for West Asian Countries

The event which will be held under the auspices of H.H Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qassimi, member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and under the supervision of the Sharjah Sports Council, features many of the region's handicapped athletes in an event that will be held from the 28th February to the 4th of March in Khorfakkan.

The competition which will have participants from the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman Sultanate, Yemen, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine is being held in association with the Khorfakkan Club for the Handicapped.

Speaking of the company's involvement, Peter Richards, Gulftainer Director and General Manager said 'We are happy to be involved with such an important event which will see disabled athletes from the Middle East, compete in what is essentially an international competition similar to other major events world wide.
'Our sponsorship of this unique sporting event is an example of the commitment Gulftainer has to Sharjah and the UAE, in helping those in the community who may have not had the same opportunities as other athletes.'

The championship is considered the first of its kind regionally and is the largest handicapped athletics event to be ever held in the UAE. The games are being conducted under the supervision of the (International committee for the handicapped and the Federation of West Asia).
