UK Minister leads delegation of Welsh companies at Gulfood

The UK's Welsh Assembly Government Minister for Rural Affairs, Elin Jones, is leading a strong delegation of Welsh companies to this year's Gulf Food Exhibition.

The Minister who is also here for bi-lateral discussions with UAE officials said; "We are delighted to be returning to Gulf Food 2008 with an exciting range of companies who represent the very best of Welsh food industry excellence. We see the fast emerging UAE and Gulf region as the ideal market to export our products to, as we know that quality really matters amongst discerning consumers in the GCC".

Lee Jennings, Vice President of International Business Wales (IBW), Middle East who is coordinating the delegation said; "We have five companies all exhibiting exciting food products at the show. Wales has a strong reputation both internationally and within the United Kingdom for premium, niche foods with high nutritional value. Currently we export over
$10 million worth of products to the region comprising mainly Welsh Lamb, cheeses, spring water and soft drinks, and by returning again to Gulf Food we expect our exports to continue to grow in 2008".

The exhibiting companies include The GoodCarb Company, who have an innovative range of healthy eating low carb products produced from entirely natural ingredients. Llanllyr Source a multi-award winning water company, Ty-Nant, another leading water company with a rapidly expanding global presence and its' trademark stylish bottle has been voted 'The 8th coolest thing in the world right now' by Arena lifestyle magazine and is regularly featured on the sets of the hit TV comedy Friends.

Also attending the exhibition are Meat Promotion Wales, which is responsible for assisting companies such as Welsh Country Foods, to export Welsh Lamb, a product known globally for its exquisite taste and texture. Completing the team of Welsh exhibitors is Halen Mon, the makers of Angelesy Sea Salt, a product which has caught the attention of the best chefs across the world.
