Iran to set university gender quotas
Iran: Tuesday, February 26 - 2008 at 07:29
Iran plans to impose a quota that men and women form a minimum of 30% each in university courses, partly in a bid to prevent women dominating the medical profession, reported AFP, citing Etemad newspaper. Women currently outnumber men at universities in Iran, especially in medical courses. Abdolrasool Pour Abbas, head of Iran's Academic Testing Organisation, said there will be a minimum 30% admission for men and women each and the rest will be chosen competitively.
