Hong Kong delegation shares eGovernance experience with Dubai eGovernment

A Hong Kong delegation led by Dr. Winnie Tang, CEO of Environmental Systems Research Institute, Hong Kong, China today called upon Salem Al Shair, eServices Director, Dubai eGovernment, to share Hong Kong's eGovernance experience with Dubai.
Dr. Tang provided an overview of Hong Kong's 2008 Digital 21 Strategy, which focuses on a citizen-centric mode of public service delivery, emphasising on customer engagement, information management and the development of simple yet secure means of authentication.
"We are glad to have had the opportunity to meet with our counterparts in Dubai, which has one of the most advanced eGovernance systems in the Middle East. This visit facilitates an exchange of eGovernment experiences between Dubai and Hong Kong, which will go a long way in enhancing the electronic governance set up in both countries," said Dr. Winnie Tang.
Commenting on the visit of the Hong Kong delegation, Salem Al Shair said, "The Hong Kong government, like Dubai, has been committed to building a robust eGovernance infrastructure that has improved the accessibility of government information and services, and built up a solid foundation for residents, businesses and the government, to further benefit from electronic opportunities. This visit by the Hong Kong delegation provided an excellent opportunity for us to learn from each other's electronic governance experience."
Dubai eGovernment officials also made a presentation to the visiting Hong Kong delegation on the strategies, plans, projects and future aims of Dubai eGovernment, as well as the steps to be taken in this domain to attain a full eGovernment status.
Through Dubai eGovernment's comprehensive web portal, citizens, residents, visitors and business enterprises can access more than 2,000 electronic services, including payment of Municipality fees, applying for visas for friends and relatives, renewing health cards, company registration, among others.
