Air Arabia takes off to Kozhikode - India

Air Arabia, the first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC) in the Middle East and North Africa, today began its non-stop service between Sharjah, the carrier's main hub, and Kozhikode (formerly Calicut), in the Indian state of Kerala.

Flights will initially operate three times a week, increasing to six times weekly by the end of May.

The inaugural flight took off from Sharjah International Airport today and was received upon its arrival by Indian delegates in Kozhikode Airport.

"The launch of this regular service to Kozhikode underscores Air Arabia's commitment to the burgeoning Indian market and the state of Kerala," said Adel Ali, Board Member and CEO of Air Arabia. "We currently serve 10 destinations in India, three within the state of Kerala alone, and we are keen on continuously providing the best value for money services to this emerging region."

On Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, flights will depart Sharjah at 8:30AM and arrive in Kozhikode at 1:40PM. On Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays flights will depart Kozhikode at 2:25PM and arrive in Sharjah at 5:00PM. The expanded schedule will be announced at a later date.

Our leadership in the regional LCC market relies on us offering passengers the most competitive fares to the most popular destinations in the Middle East, North Africa and beyond, and our inaugural flight to Kozhikode today reflects our on-going commitment towards this region," added Ali.

The other two destinations Air Arabia serves in the Indian state of Kerala are Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. In addition to Kerala, Air Arabia flies to seven other destinations in India, including Ahmdedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Mumbai and Nagpur.
