Minister of Health to patronize NBK's Walkathon on 22nd March

Under the patronage of H.E. the Minister of Health, Abdullah Abdulrahman Al-Taweel, National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) is set to launch its 14th annual Walkathon titled "Stop Smoking.. Start Walking" on 22nd March, 2008.

NBK's Vice Chairman & Head of the Bank and Society Committee , Nasser Musaed Al Sayer said that it is gratifying to note that the annual walkathon event, which is a major component of NBK's corporate social responsibility (CSR), has over the years garnered huge success and public recognition as being one of the much awaited nationwide health, sports and entertainment-related activities.

"However, what differentiates the 14th annual walkathon for this year is the central theme of the event "Stop Smoking.. Start Walking" and the associated efforts that will be devoted to create public about the numerous risks of smoking, particularly among the young generations in Kuwait", Al Sayer added.

Al Sayer said "NBK is expecting to witness more than 10,000 male & female participants to join this year's walkathon".

"NBK is not alone in the fight against smoking.. the patronage of H.E the Minister of Health of the NBK 14th annual walkathon, coupled with the support and collaboration rendered by other governmental authorities throughout the functions of this event, add further emphasis to the central issue of the walkathon, which provides a good opportunity for smokers to start a new episode in life by quitting the bad habit at least for one day totally devoted for exercising the healthy activity of walking," Al Sayer concluded.
