The Emirates Academy hosts the European Council for Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Education board meeting
- United Arab Emirates: Monday, March 03 - 2008 at 13:28
- PRESS RELEASE
The Emirates Academy, part of Dubai based luxury hospitality group Jumeirah, recently hosted a board meeting of delegates from European Council for Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Education (EuroCHRIE), the leading international organization supporting education & training for the hospitality industry.
EuroCHRIE is the official federation for Europe, the Mediterranean Basin and Africa of the international CHRIE, and represents more than 200 international CHRIE members. This unique organization brings educators and hospitality & tourism management schools and universities into a global network in close co-operation with industry representatives. For the first time since EuroCHRIE has been established, the annual conference will be hosted outside of Europe and The Emirates Academy has successfully won the bid to host this in October 2008. This is also the first year that papers can be submitted and presented in Arabic as well as English.
Ron Hilvert, Managing Director of The Emirates Academy, commented: "We at The Emirates Academy are honoured to have been chosen to host the upcoming EuroCHRIE conference, despite the tough competition. We received great feedback from the board members during the visit, who are looking forward to this unique event in October."
Ron Carpenter, President of EuroCHRIE, stated: "Seventeen EuroCHRIE board members - the largest number ever to attend a pre Conference meeting - had a very productive two-day meeting hosted by The Emirates Academy. Most had never visited Dubai and they were thoroughly impressed by both the spectacular local venues for hospitality and the warm hospitality of The Emirates Academy. As president I want to personally sincerely thank the Academy and the Jumeirah Group for hosting this event and making it one we will all remember."
The EuroCHRIE Conference will attract 300-400 delegates from around the world from October 11 - 14 2008. The Emirates Academy has already received over 230 abstracts for paper presentations, including over 20 from the Middle East, and fully expects to attract many high level delegates from the regional tourism and hospitality industries as well as from academia.
