The 3rd Annual Emirates Group-Chevron Awards were presented at a ceremony at Emirates' new Dubai headquarters by HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, Chairman & Chief Executive, Emirates Airline & Group, and Sudhir Bishnoi, General Manager, Chevron Global Aviation.

Mr Bishnoi said: "I'm very pleased to be here to present the Chevron Global Aviation awards to the best Emirates UAE National Trainees.

"This award is aligned with the values that our two companies share. At Chevron, it's our vision to be the global energy company most admired for its people, partnership and performance. This award is part of our partnership with Emirates and recognises the importance of people to the successful performance of the company."

As part of the awards, the trainees will visit Chevron's operations in London to gain exposure to its operations and understand its global best practices.

The trainees won awards in a number of categories.

In addition to winning the award for 'Best UAE National Trainee of the Ab-Initio Pilot Programme', Cadet Pilot Huda Saeed Al Musallami, Flight Deck Crew - Airbus Fleet, was honoured with the overall award for 'Outstanding UAE National Trainee of the Year 2007 Award'. Huda received the award for achieving exceptionally high grades, both at ground school and flight training in Adelaide.

Manal Al Tamimi, Dnata Contact Centre, was awarded 'Best UAE National Trainee of the School Leavers' Training Programme' for exceeding her sales target by over 190 per cent and consistently showing an active interest in taking on new projects.

Mohammed Hassan, Emirates SkyCargo - Dubai Sales, won 'Best UAE National Trainee of the Diploma Graduates' Programme' for his innovative ideas in improving current systems at the Service Centre, benefiting both the department and staff - an inspiration to young trainees.

Ayesha Al Jenaibi, National Development & Recruitment department, won 'Best UAE National Trainee of the Graduates' Programme' for her exceptional skills in planning and executing high profile development plans, projects and events, in addition to her inspiring "can-do attitude".

Alaa Samih Al Khatib, Revenue Optimisation department, also won 'Best UAE National Trainee of the Graduates' Programme' for successfully handling six complicated routes and consistently achieving an average critical seat factor of 94 per cent, bringing in millions in revenue for the company.

Haitham Al Battawy, Commercial Operations department, was awarded 'Best UAE National Trainee of the Graduates' Programme (Outstation) for his advanced leadership skills in successfully handing the recently opened Ajman sales office while still in training.

Ali Abu Taleb, Emirates Engineering - Base Maintenance, won the award for 'Best UAE National Trainee of the Aircraft Mechanics' Programme' for consistently achieving distinction in all his training modules, both written and oral, in addition to showing a high level of dedication.

Congratulating the winners, Nasser Bin Kherbash, Emirates' Divisional Senior Vice President Human Resources & Employee Services, said: "Emirates is committed to the training and career development of its workforce. Investment in our people is one of our core corporate values for the way we conduct business.

"We are also proud to be part of the Dubai Government's vision of investing in the UAE's young people, mentoring and guiding them as they grow to become the country's business leaders of the future."

The Emirates Group - Chevron Award for UAE National Trainees is an incentive for young professionals to excel and make a distinctive difference for themselves and their departments during their on-the-job training programme.

It reflects the philosophy of both Emirates and Chevron to recognise a person's talents and to demonstrate high-level commitment to quality training and development.
