Sama begins flights to Alexandria

Sama, the newest low-fares airline in Saudi Arabia, is pleased to announce the launch of Sama's first flights from Jeddah to Alexandria, Al-Nozha International Airport.

On the inaugural flight were Mr. Andrew Cowen, CEO and Mr Faisal Al-Duhaim, Director of Marketing, along with Sama officials and some key journalists. Sama is launching 4 weekly flights between Riyadh, Jeddah and Alexandria.

At the press conference that was held to mark the occasion, Mr. Andrew Cowen, CEO of Sama, said: "We are proud to launch this inaugural Sama flight to Alexandria in Egypt. This route launch means that Sama now provides several new options for low-fares travel for more than 15 million Egyptian citizens in Alexandria and the near by provinces. I am also very pleased to announce that Sama is very close to achieving the milestone of one million passengers booked, which we expect to hit within the next few weeks, with the help of this Alexandria route launch. The millionth passenger to book with us will receive free travel on Sama to anywhere on the Sama network for him and his immediate family for a year. I would like to thank the General Authority for Civil Aviation in both countries for their trust and support of Sama for facilitating the licenses we need to serve this route."

The press conference and dinner reception of inauguration of Sama's first flight from Jeddah to Alexandria was honored by the Saudi Consul in Alexandria Mr. Abdul Ghani Shuwaila, and Deputy Governor of Alexandria General Safauddin Kamel, and Mr. Aly Hussein Aly, Alexandria International Airport manager, and Mr. Omar Islam Shalaby, Chairman of Imperial Travel, Sama's General Sales Agency in Egypt. An official dinner was held in the Hilton Plaza to mark the occasion and was honored by several other Egyptian officials.

Mr. Faisal Al-Duhaim, Director of Marketing, said "Travel demand between Saudi Arabia and Egypt is amongst the highest in the Middle East. Flights depart every Saturday and Tuesday from Riyadh, and every Monday and Thursday from Jeddah. The return flights to Riyadh will be on Monday and Thursday, and Saturday and Tuesday to Jeddah."

With the launch of Alexandria, Sama's international destinations increase to eight (Abu-Dhabi, Sharjah, Amman, Damascus, Latakia, Aleppo, Beirut, and Alexandria) departing from the international airports at Dammam, Riyadh, and Jeddah.
