DEWA launches the Water Technologies, Energy And Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2008)

The event will take place at the Dubai International Trade Center, Zabeel Hall from 11 to 13th March 2008 along with a wide participation of National & International Companies.
At a press conference held by DEWA on Wednesday 5 March 2008 at Fairmont Hotel, H.E Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, stated that the exhibition is held in execution of the directives of H. H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai explained the necessity of conserving our natural resources, the rationalization of their use, and preservation of environment. He said that the Authority received numerous participations in this important exhibition from national and international companies from the different continents. He also said that the Exhibition accommodates huge wings for national companies, and numerous Arabic and international companies from more than 22 countries around the world.
For the first time the Exhibition has exhibited the Environmental Friendly Projects on a special stand for green buildings, mainly to promote the concept that aims at the conservation of energy and water through the use of environmental friendly designs and materials.
A number of ministries, municipalities, government departments, and public benefit associations and countries such as Japan, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Holland, Canada, Malaysia, Korea, Turkey, India etc, in addition to KSA, Egypt, and Jordan have participated in this exhibition.
Mr. Al Tayer also stated that the importance of this exhibition stems from being the first in its kind in the region, in addition to its themes that tackle with the sustainable development process for the economical sectors in this country with special emphasis on the environment protection and preservation. The Authority has provided the opportunity and suitable areas for the different participants to exhibit their concepts and products to help the needs of decision makers in these fields. He especially praised the exhibitors, who reflects the prominent position of the UAE in general and Dubai in particular as a hob for business and attraction for the various activities. He also stated that the entertainment of this big economical event is a credit to Dubai to be added to the different economical and commercial activities hosted over the year.
Mr. Al Tayer greatly valued the participation of the government sectors and public benefit associations in the country interested in the exhibition theme and believes that the exhibition constitutes a unique opportunity for exhibiting our products in the fields of water, energy, and environment and contributes in the exchange of experiences and experiments between them for public benefit.
Due to the importance of this exhibition there was huge rush to sponsor this exhibition because of its importance. The number of main sponsors reached 10, and the co-sponsors are 13 local and international companies and establishment. The area of the exhibition is 15000 sq. m. and number of participants is 680 compared to 600 in 2007.
The exhibition accommodates major national and international companies specialized in the exhibition themes. These exhibits include agricultural equipments, desalination, and modern irrigation systems, water pumps, boilers, cables, transformers, connectors, energy rationalization products, pipes, valves, generators, energy and water transmission and distribution equipments in addition to many modern products. The exhibition constitutes an opportunity for decision makers at government departments in the country and in the region to see these products, and meet directly with the companies, manufacturers, and agents from all over the world. The exhibition also forms an excellent venue for pioneer companies to promote their production in the field of water, electricity and environment and to present solutions for the problems that face development of these essential economy sectors in addition to the exhibition's contribution in developing the efficient strategies and modern technologies in managing water and electricity resources and conserving the environment.
H.E stated that some valuable symposia and lectures that are related to the exhibition's issues and the international developments in this field would be held simultaneously, all designated to the visitors, engineers and technicians from various government and private sectors in the United Arab Emirates and the GCC, updating them on the latest techniques and developments.
H.E concluded stating that the great success of the exhibition in the last nine editions has constituted a new springboard to DEWA to provide larger spaces to fit the number of the increasing participants who have greatly benefited from the exhibition.
