Sharjah's aggressive marketing efforts during the running ITB Berlin Exhibition are reaping great dividends, with the Emirate's stand in the big annual tourist forum enjoying a high turnout.

A large number of delegates representing German travel and media agencies are visiting the spacious stand of the Emirate, which is participating in the ITB fair for the 11th consecutive year at a time Sharjah is increasingly becoming a favourite tourist destination for German tourists.

Having wooed more than 60,000 German tourists last year to its diverse cultural and heritage magnets, Sharjah is remarkably enjoying the attention of several German tourist agencies, which are seeking to utilize the great tourist potential of the Emirate in touting the heritage and cultural pearls of the city on the German market.

Within this context, representatives of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) participating in the ITP have met with delegates of leading German travel agencies to exchange ideas on expanding joint tourist cooperation and best selling Sharjah tourist potential abroad.

SCTDA Director General Mohammed Ali Al Noman, underscored the importance of meeting with German tourist officials. "We are very pleased to meet representatives of German and European tourist agencies. Our participation comes at an ideal time, as Sharjah's international profile has grown significantly and has now become the preferred destination for many tourists from around the world, specially the German market which augments Sharjah's global identity as a world class destination for tourism. And this gathering helps us to consolidate the Emirate's position on the world map."

It is worth mentioning that Germany is one leading tourist market that sends tens of thousands of tourists to Sharjah every year, a fact that explains the Emirate's unfailing commitment to regularly merchandise its tourist potential at the ITB.
