The two-day summit provided a forum for telecoms operators to learn more about EMC's information infrastructure solutions and services for the telecommunications sector, and to discuss issues affecting the industry today.

Bill Teuber, Vice Chairman of EMC, addressed technology leaders from leading telecom providers operating in the GCC, Pakistan, Egypt, Lebanon and Africa, giving them insight into EMC's continually expanding information management portfolio and focusing on the rapidly evolving world of telecoms-specific solutions.

Teuber's presence at this year's summit highlights the significance of the Middle East region's fast emerging telecom industry.

"EMC's focus on innovation is something we share with the Middle East and North Africa region," said Bill Teuber, Vice Chairman, EMC Corporation. "We are furthering technology integration across our portfolio by utilizing acquired technologies with our home-grown intellectual property; we are investing in research and development; and we are leveraging global resources to expand into the fastest-growing regions of the world such as the Gulf, Levant and North Africa."

"As the regional telecoms sector continues to grow and expand at a rapid rate, operators face the challenge of managing and storing an ever-expanding mass of information," explained Mohammed Amin, General Manager, EMC Middle East & North Africa region. "EMC has years of expertise in providing telecoms operators in the region with comprehensive solutions to manage their data securely and cost-effectively. This ensures that customers are able to build their information infrastructure to support their businesses as they grow.""

EMC executives discussed the company's software-as-a-service (SaaS) strategy and the release of MozyEnterprise powered by EMC Fortress, a secure, multi-tenant, scalable SaaS delivery platform that provides customers with centralized billing, management and metering.

Telco operators heard how MozyEnterprise automates secure online backup and recovery over the internet for consistent and reliable off-site data protection for remote desktops, laptops and branch office servers.

During the summit, senior EMC management presented the wide portfolio of offerings available to the telecommunications sector, covering their business consultancy and data management services as well as security and disaster recovery.
