CBD hosts seminar

In its constant efforts at strengthening its relationship with its customers, Commercial Bank of Dubai hosted a seminar on 'Strategic Management of Family & Privately-Owned Firms' at the Burj Al Arab in Dubai.

The event was exclusively held for owners of family businesses and high net worth individuals in the UAE.

Professor Anthony Hourihan, who is a professor in Management of Financial Institutions at University College in Dublin and lectures at the London Business School and INSEAD - France, conducted the seminar which provided insights on the latest trends in managing family businesses.

In his opening address, Mr. Peter Baltussen, Chief Executive Officer of CBD said: "Customers have always been CBD's first priority and we believe hosting such seminars provides value added information to our clients. CBD hosts a variety of informative seminars and workshops to address everyday challenges that our business clients face."

The seminar consisted of three main topics, the first one being, "How family businesses are different and understanding the cycles in family firms" followed by the "Role of the Board of Directors in Family Business and the rights and responsibilities of Family and non-family shareholders."

Finally, Hourihan concluded his seminar with the last topic which was about succession issues and realizing the dream of successful generation to generation transition and financing the growth of the family firm: Going public of staying private and other key financing issues.

The seminar was attended by a mix of high Net Worth Customers of CBD as well as business owners which provided them with a great opportunity to network amongst themselves, making the seminar a great success.
