The pioneering district cooling provider will also leverage the event's wide reach to highlight one of its latest district cooling plants.

Wetex 2008, which will be held from 11 -13 March at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center, is regarded an important regional resourcing platform for national and international companies to access a wide range of latest technology and management solutions. Empower's stand will be located at Zabeel Hall.

Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said: "We need to adopt a comprehensive strategy to tackle current challenges faced by the region. Empower strongly believes the solution has to be twofold - developing energy-efficient products and nurturing a culture of conservation, which continues to lack the attention and urgency it deserves.

"Empower will aggressively pursue its mission to provide developers with innovative, energy-efficient applications for their projects and help sustain Dubai's position as global leaders in district cooling."

Wetex 2008 event will bring together key decision makers, and representatives from government organizations, trade associations and chambers of commerce from around the world. It will provide avenues for industry leaders to keep abreast of latest developments in the GCC region in water, energy and environment, while offering opportunities to network with strategic partners in their pursuit of innovative solutions.

Empower is a joint venture between Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone (TECOM) and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). It provides 60,000 refrigeration tonnes (RT) to Jumeirah Beach Residence, the impressive 22 million square feet development by Dubai Properties, the leading regional real estate master developer, spanning 1.7km, featuring 36 residential towers, four hotel towers and beach clubs.

In 2007, Empower signed a deal with Dubai Properties for the supply of 44,000 RT of district cooling to Culture Village, a world-class destination offering an inspired mix of Arabic and old Dubai architecture within a contemporary, urbane setting.

Empower
Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) is a joint venture between Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone (TECOM) Investments and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), created to provide energy-efficient district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments. Empower plans to diversify into other energy efficiency and conservation services. Empower's district cooling systems (DCS) provide effective and efficient means of air conditioning. Water is cooled in central plants and distributed through a network of piping systems to individual customer buildings. DCS achieves economies of scale by using centralised plants instead of individual cooling units in each building. The centralised system results in reduced capital and operating costs, thus reducing air-conditioning set-up and energy costs per building. Empower is set to become one of the largest district cooling companies in the region.
