Istithmar World Aviation Executive Jets appoints Mohamed Abubaker Farea as Executive Director

Istithmar World Aviation (IWA) Executive Jets, the executive jet operations wing of Dubai World, today announced that Engineer Mohamed Abubaker Farea has assumed his office as its Executive Director.

He joins IWA Executive Jets at a time when the company is poised for major developments in the operation and management of executive jets with its planned new base at Dubai World Central Aviation City.

Engineer Mohamed comes to IWA Executive Jets with extensive experience of over 22 years in the aviation industry at various senior levels in areas including planning, finance, operations, technical and regulatory. A former director of the General Civil Aviation Authority and the Chairman of Arab Civil Aviation Commission Safety and Standard Committee, Mohamed was involved in the start-up phases of various airlines in the UAE.

Mr. Tom Ronell, Chief Executive Officer, Istithmar World Aviation Holdings, said that the appointment of Mohamed Abubaker is crucially timed with the ambitious expansion plans of the company. "Mohamed's vast experience in the aviation sector will be a great asset for IWA Executive Jets at this time. He has been closely involved with the industry at various levels. His knowledge of the regulations plus relationships with GCAA, Airport Authority and other Government entities and officials will be extremely valuable for the company."

"Corporate aviation in the Middle East is set for growth in the range of 20 percent to 50 percent a year. Istithmar World Aviation Executive Jets is aiming the top position in private and corporate jet operations. We are happy that Mohamed is joining us to give boost to our efforts," he added.

A Bachelor of Science in General Studies and a Master in Business Study, Management, Mohamed Abubaker has also obtained Higher Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering.

He started his career with British Airways. He also worked with Gulf Air Gamco and the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority. Mohamed has obtained several international aviation licences, certificates and diploma in the field of aviation. He has represented the UAE in various important aviation conferences and meetings.

Mohamed said of his new appointment: "The entire spectrum of corporate activities shows great potential for growth, and this will certainly reflect in the expansion of the market for corporate and private jet operations. IWA Executive Jets, with its solid fundamentals, is in the fast track for bigger business. I am sure the coming days will prove that the company's expectations are right on cue," Mohamed said.

I will spare no effort in promoting and expanding IWA Executive Jets operations at Dubai International Airport and at the new Dubai World Central. We will strategically plan our growth to make Dubai the regional and international hub for the operation and maintenance of executive flights."

Mr. Tom Ronell will continue to be involved with IWA Executive Jets to support Mohamed Abu Baker and his team. The company is fast moving with its plans for expansion with the acquisition of new aircraft and the setting up of its expanded base at the Dubai World Central, which will include 240,000 square feet of hangar space. The company is presently based at Dubai International Airport.
