DMC students shine at Area 21 contest

The Area 21 Contest for Toastmasters International comprising of five clubs: Emirates, Dubai Men's College, ICAT Dubai, Emarat and SP Jain was held at Dubai Men's College last week.

The theme of this year's contest was: "Expect the Unexpected from Area 21".

Dubai Men's College students fared extremely well and took trophies in all four of the contests.

Rashid Al Maftoul, President of DMC Toastmasters, went home with three trophies (2nd place in Humorous Speech, 3rd place in International Speech and 3rd place in Evaluation). Mohsen Al Awadhi was 2nd runner up in the Table Topics contest.

Area 21 Governor and VP Education of the DMC Toastmasters Club, Dr. Christine Coombe, invited Mr. Ed Tate, the 2000 World Champion of Public Speaking, to give the plenary address.

In his plenary, Energize, Educate and Entertain: How to Connect with Any Audience Any Time? Ed Tate outlined ten different ways to open and close any presentation and explained how to develop new materials on the spot and practice the four elements of effective story telling.
