Ruwad signs MoU with United Nations Development Programme to support small and medium enterprise

Ruwad Establishment announced the signing of a key Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to jointly cooperate in the support of studies and research, and in the offering of technical support and development to small and medium sized enterprises with the aim to enhance growth and competitiveness of these projects.

  • The signing ceremony was held at the Sharjah Economic Development Department's headquarter in Sharjah yesterday and attended by H.E Ahmed Mohammed Al Midfa, Al Ruwad's deputy chairman and Dr. Khaled Alloush, UNDP Resident Representative & UN Resident Coordinator in the UAE.

Speaking of this occasion H.E Mohammed Abdullah, Member of the Board of Directors, said: "The MoU provides for joint cooperation in studying and evaluating the international SMEs experiences, creating more investment opportunities for small and medium enterprisers, enhancing exchange experts and further developing the advanced enterprises.

"The establishment will offer the necessary facilities to execute the agreed for programs and projects under the provisions of this agreement and provide with ideas, studies and suggestions aimed to develop the scope of our joint cooperation. Ruwad will supervise the implementation of collaboration programs which will be jointly identified in later stages".

Clarifying the support UNDP will offer, Dr. Khaled Alloush, UNDP Resident Representative & UN Resident Coordinator in the UAE, said: "The UNDP will offer technical assistance and consultancy services to help develop the work environment of the small and medium enterprises. We will benefit from our global network to provide the small and medium enterprisers with international resources that will enormously enhance the scope of their businesses".

Alloush added. "We will support the members of Ruwad to attend advanced training courses on international industrial and technological standards in the UAE or abroad. We will update Ruwad about the incentive programs offered by the UNDP to support SMEs. We will arrange visits to universities and educational institutes to spread the culture of self employment and encourage young graduates to run their own businesses.'
