The objective of the competition was to allow senior IT students from HCT Colleges to come and pit their programming skills against fellow students on that day.

It provided our students with the opportunity to compete and network with other HCT students in a healthy, competitive environment.

Rashed Aref Alshaikh Al Hashimi and Abdulla Mohammed Jalfar, along with Khalid Ahmad Bani Tamim and Omar Darwish Al Zarooni, formed two teams to represent DMC.

The students were given a business scenario for which they had to develop a database application in Oracle.

Aisha Ghazal and Ghazala Bilquise, IT faculty at Dubai Men's College worked very hard to prepare the students for the competition. The students were very enthusiastic about participating in the competition and were extremely well-prepared for it.

"The atmosphere was great and student learning was at its maximum. Oracle added real value to HCT IT students," said Hassan Khabbazeh, IT Department Chair at Dubai Men's College.

The competition was a whole day event sponsored by ORACLE Corp. IT professionals from the industry, HCT college graduates and HCT faculty were invited to judge the competition.

While their work was being judged, participating students attended a presentation from Oracle informing them about the latest developments and technology available from Oracle.

The students expressed their thanks to Mr. Mo Mohasses from Sharjah Women's College for hosting and organizing this event.

The event ended with the distribution of awards to the top three teams. Overall the 2008 Inter-collegiate Oracle competition was a hugely successful event.
