Career Expo is a non-profit annual event held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Majeed Al Alawi, Minister of Labour, and the auspices of the National Society for Support of Education & Training (NSSET).
The Forum was designed to address the need for proper training and support to equip Bahraini youth with the necessary skills to execute successful small business projects. The forum comprised of a series of workshops, seminars, and visits to local NGOs and corporations. The Spring Forum ran in two consecutive rotations involving candidates selected by the Ministry of Labour, where nineteen females and twelve male candidates actively participated.
Under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Majeed bin Mohsen Al Alawi, Minister of Labour, and the auspices of the National Society for the Support of Education & Training (NSSET), the Steering Committee of Career Expo 2008 held an appreciation lunch in Ajera Ballroom, Bahrain Training Institute (BTI). The aim of this gathering was to thank volunteers, supporters, and Spring Forum committee members on the resounding success of the recently held event. Those involved in the Spring Forum were thanked for their contribution by the Steering Committee Chairman, Mr. Abdulellah Al Qassimi.
Also present at the lunch were Mr. Farooq Jaffar, in charge of the Expo's Venue Organisation and Transportation Committee; Ms. Najwa Buhassan, Organising Committee member, Mr. Saeed Al Aboosi, President, NSSET, Mrs. Zahraa Taher, CEO Eventscom (Bahrain), who has undertaken the project management of Career Expo and other committee members.
The Expo is set to take place at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) on 21 -23 October, 2008. The three-day event targets Bahraini secondary school students, vocational students, jobseekers, parents, and the community at large. These efforts hope to enhance Bahraini students and jobseekers understanding of the professional world, and to guide them in choosing their careers or looking for better opportunities thereby enriching job prospects and the quality of the Bahraini workforce.
The previous Expo attracted different organizations which resulted in the attendance of more than 15,000 visitors. International Exhibitors also took part in Expo 2005 coming from Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia. It is anticipated that during Career Expo 2008 more than 120 organizations will participate and approx. 20,000 visitors will attend. Organizations taking part will include corporate companies, universities, colleges, and other educational institutions. These organizations will represent a variety of sectors such as: Science and Engineering; Banking and Finance; Catering and Hospitality; and Petroleum and Gas.

The Spring Forum, one of the numerous activities carried out leading up to the Expo, was held on the last week of January and first week of February 2008.
