Ministry of Labour and T. Gargour & Fils to develop the first Automotive Vocational Training Center of Excellence

The MOU aims to establish, develop and administer the first automotive vocational training centre, as a Center of Excellence, in a pledge to train and employ Jordanian youth, and upgrade their skills in line with the Company's needs and the demands of the Jordanian and regional labour market.

By virtue of this MOU, Tawfiq Gargour Co will develop, equip and administer operations at the new vocational centre, set up at the Mercedes Benz training centre in Al Raqeem. The Centre is fully equipped with state-of-the-art machinery needed to provide technical training to the international Mercedes Benz standards. The Centre will have the capacity to train from 50 to 60 trainees per year who will be coached by a team of professional trainers.

In partnership with TGF/Mercedes Benz the vocational training corporation will contribute by providing qualified trainers, trainings equipment and material. It will conduct awareness campaigns, testing and assessment of students. Upon successful completion of the training, trainees will be awarded TGF/ Mercedes Benz efficiency certification.

The new Vocational Training Center is blessed with a wide spectrum of opportunities as it is a joint venture between the public and private sectors. We aspire to make the Centre the first choice for job seekers, and to have the chance to train young people and rehabilitate them for the Jordanian labour market; a market we want to and aspire to enhance to allow a balance in its present intake and future needs in all fields," said Minister of Labour, Eng Basem al Salem.

From his part, Mr. Nadim Gargour expressed his pleasure and honour to sign this MOU with the Ministry of Labour. Mr. Gargour added that the Company is thrilled with the trust the Ministry rendered it. The first Vocational training centre Of Excellence in Jordan that specializes in cars and vehicles he said exemplifies the partnership between the private and public sectors. Partnering up with the Ministry's efforts to raise the standards and alleviate the problem of unemployment in Jordan amongst the youth of Jordan is a mission we are proud to be involved in.

The vocational training corporation currently manages 45 vocational training centers in Jordan. The VTC cooperates with a number of public sector parties and private companies to train and employ the youth in different sectors, such as industries, construction, as well as tourism, hotels and restaurant services, and is pursuing a strategy of Centers of Excellence in various industries jointly with the leaders in those fields in Jordan.
