The DGJG’s commitment to excellence was recognized at the recent DSF Innovation Awards, in which the organization was honored for Outstanding Customer Service.
As part of its training initiative, DGJG is offering specialized programmes in a tie-up with the International Gemological Institute (IGI) on diamond grading and coloured stones certification.
The first set of training programmes will commence on March 15 with a course on managerial excellence.
“With factors like rising gold prices impacting the market, it is important for the industry to look at alternative ways to drive demand,” said Tawhid Abdullah, Managing Director, Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group. ”Our aim is to not only offer short-term solutions, but to build the foundations for a strong industry in the future.”
He added, “Consumers are becoming more design and fashion conscious, so catering to lifestyle aspirations through careful branding is a positive step. Also, introducing incentives like exchange and buy-back schemes and adhering to global hallmarking and certification criteria will help to boost interest. Finally, raising professional standards across the industry will have significant benefits, which is why we have launched our training programmes.“
The DGJG won the DSF award for Outstanding Customer Service as a direct result of these efforts.
Jewellery outlets in Dubai were credited with providing significantly higher levels of customer service than other service industry sectors.
The selection process for the Customer Service award relied in part on a survey commissioned by the DSF office.
