GENTECH's participation is part of its strategy to help firms address rising wastewater levels and enhance the supply of water required for the ongoing construction and development boom; in line with DEWA's commitment towards electricity and water conservation by applying the Slab Tariff System, which is applied worldwide to preserve natural resources and protect the environment.

The company's comprehensive exhibit will include its innovative type of Undersink Water Filter using ultra-filtration, which is very popular in Europe; as well as its Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), a groundbreaking technology used to treat domestic waste water. According to a recent study, GENTECH's STP assisted a UAE labour camp of around 2,000 persons save more than 97 per cent on cash outflow, with return on initial investment expected within 12 months.

Sameh Awad, Business Development Director, GENTECH, commented: "Huge supplies of water are consumed daily across the region, and most of the wastewater generated can actually be recycled and used for irrigation, construction, livestock and other purposes. Our recent case study revealed that intelligent use of water can be very beneficial for the region; both environmentally and economically."

Other water treatment solutions to be showcased by GENTECH during WETEX 2008 include its Reverse Osmosis Plant with a packaged unit of 5,000 gallons per day, designed for brackish water; its Dosing System & Instrumentation equipment including tanks, mixers, controllers and dosing pumps, used in various applications where it is necessary to dose chemicals to treat water or effluent. GENTECH will also exhibit various components such as filters, vessels, tanks and automatic control heads used in various treatment & pre-treatment applications.

Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Minister of Finance and Industry, and organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), the water, energy technology and environment exhibition (WETEX 2008) is an important regional platform to access latest technology and management solutions. The event also facilitates industry leaders to follow the latest developments in the fields of water, energy and environment, as well to network with strategic partners for innovative solutions.

"In view of the significant strain on the water supply caused by the rapidly expanding development projects implemented throughout the Gulf, WETEX 2008 plays a critical role in providing a suitable platform to identify solutions that will promote sustainability and efficiency in managing our natural resources,"

said Sameh Awad, Business Development Director, GENTECH.
