Dubai becomes the fashion capital of the world during 'Dubai Fashion 2008'

Dubai will be the focus of attention of the fashion world as the high-profile "Dubai Fashion 2008" event takes off to a glittering start on February 10, 2008.

The event is being held under the patronage of HH Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and is organised by Dubai Shopping Festival and BurJuman, the region's most luxurious shopping mall.

The details of the fashion extravaganza were revealed in a press conference held in BurJuman, also a DSF 2008 Key sponsor, and was headed by Suhaila Gobash, Events Manager at DSF Office, and Eissa Adam, General Manager of BurJuman. The conference was also attended by a large crowd of Media representatives and some of the biggest international fashion brand agents in Dubai.

To be held from February 10 to 12 at the Madinat Jumeirah, Arena Ballroom, Dubai Fashion 2008 will see the season's hottest trends by leading fashion houses including Christian Lacroix, Barbara Bui, Stephan Rolland, in addition to a collection of fashion names that belong to the crème de la crème of the fashion industry.

"As we celebrate the fifth anniversary of one of our most prestigious signature events, we would like to thank HH Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum for her constant support and encouragement for Dubai Fashion It's through Her Highness's support that we transformed this event from its small beginnings in 2003 to a global fashion event that has managed to attract many fashion lovers of the world to Dubai City in just a record time," said Gobash.

"The DSF Office in collaboration with BurJuman, who have been supporting Dubai Fashion since its inception, has produced an innovative event of international repute. This time Dubai Fashion will see the convergence of some of the most talented and innovative designers in the fashion world. This without doubt will place Dubai on the world fashion map as the region's fashion capital. Dubai is regarded as the gateway for the major fashion houses of the world to enter the region," she added.

"BurJuman is pleased to once again strategically partner with DSF in bringing the world's latest fashion trends to Dubai. The inaugural day of the event on February 10 will host the innovative collection of two of the most talented designers today, Barbara Bui and Stephan Rolland; on February 11, a collection of the grandest fashion international brands will take centre stage with names such as Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Dior, Stella Cadente, Ungaro and Valentino to name a few, presented by Etoile group.

On February 12 the event will host the grand finale of the three-day event with the latest collection of the fashion mogul Christian Lacroix. Dubai Fashion 2008 is also supported by Emirates, Bentley and P&G beauty.

Creations, the second segment of the Dubai Fashion Festival which involves daily fashion shows by upcoming designers from the region will be held from February 14 to 22 at BurJuman.
