UK Property magnate awarded at Vacation Ownership conference

Pervaiz Naviede is the developer behind the first fully sold-out timeshare resort in the emirate: Royal Club at The Palm.

Naviede was presented with the Developer of the Year Award by Craig M Nash, Chairman and CEO, Interval International and David R Clifton, Managing Director Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia, Interval International.

Naviede saw Dubai as a prospective timeshare location and created a resort concept that would offer owners the lifestyle of the rich and famous, for a fraction of the cost. Development of Royal Club began in 2003.

The 50-unit resort, located on The Palm Jumeirah, sold out in mid 2007, six months before completion. Royal Club, an affiliate of Interval International, is located on The Palm Jumeirah's prestigious 'Golden Mile', a stretch of coastline that offers a marina capable of berthing 400 yachts, over 200 boutique shops and a variety of restaurants to suit all tastes.

Receiving his award, Naviede said: 'We came into the market in 2003, because Dubai was very interesting to us. At that time, there was some uncertainty in the sustainability of the destination, with construction of the many landmark developments, such as The Palm, still a long way off.'

'Interval International advised us on the right direction to take; at that point vacation ownership was a totally new industry for us. Now, with one project fully sold out and a second iconic property, Royal Club at Downtown Dubai, set to begin marketing, we are very thankful for their advice. This award is as much testament to their industry leadership as it is to our success as developers,' said Naviede.

'Our marketing partners, Arabian Falcon, are the true pioneers. I am very happy to announce today that our relationship with them will continue with our new and exciting project, Royal Club at Downtown Dubai, opposite the Burj Dubai. This resort will also be affiliated with Interval International. With the new timeshare legislation now close to being implemented in Dubai, the future of vacation ownership in the emirate looks very promising,' Naviede added.

'Pervaiz is a very successful developer in the UK and Europe. He came to Dubai a number of years ago, fell in love with the place and decided to enter the vacation ownership industry. It always takes courage to be the first in any industry. Not only was Pervaiz the first but he is also a successful example of how you can come into the industry and make it work.
