Graham discussed the implementation of WiMax from a global perspective and highlight key topic areas such as; the different speactra (band and bandwidth) deployed around the world, the number of licenses issued globally, services restrictions and the number of WiMax deployments across the region, both under construction and offering services now.

The WiMax Fourm Dubai aims to promote and accelerate the introduction of cost-effective broadband wireless access services into the marketplace, whilst equipping industry professionals with the necessary knowledge and know-how to successfully implement WiMAX networks within the Middle East.

The conference will be comprised of a suite of courses designed for both business and highly technical audience.

"In the last few years WiMAX has established itself as a serious alternative to wired DSL and cable, providing a competitive broadband service offering that can be rapidly and cost effectively deployed. WiMAX is an ideal partner for service providers to deliver convenient, affordable internet connection in more places - especially developing areas," commented MacDonald.

WiMAX is the next giant step in wireless network evolution with the potential to mobilize consumer's internet usage.

WiMAX has the ability to blanket large areas - wide area networks (WANS), be they metropolitan, suburban or rural - with multi-megabit-per-second mobile.
