Giordano nominated for prestigious World Retail Award!

Giordano International has been shortlisted as a finalist for the much coveted Emerging Market Retailer of the Year Award at the World Retail Awards 2008 which will take place at the World Retail Congress in Barcelona on April 9-11, 2008.

Giordano, the Middle East's leading retailer and distributor of casual apparel will be joining a prestigious line up of retailers from across the Globe to vie for this award.

Ishwar Chugani, Executive Director, Giordano Middle East said:" The World Retail Awards is designed to highlight and honour excellence across the key areas of retail skills and operations. Our participation alone is extremely significant and we are proud to be amongst the companies chosen".

Giordano with the selected candidates will be reviewed at the World Retail Congress by a Grand Jury consisting of the world's most respected retailers and retail industry experts.

The overall winner will subsequently be announced at a gala dinner held during the event at the MNAC (Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya).

Retailers in emerging economies face unique trading conditions but have enormous potential to influence the development of their local market.

In selecting the six successful companies, the board was looking for retailers rooted in emerging markets with a robust and dynamic retail format, who combines an understanding of international entrepreneurial qualities with the unique demands of their own country.

"Giordano has always worked hard to secure it's' massive position in the Middle East and our development strategy is based on expanding and rising above any obstacle"concluded Ishwar.

The World Retail Awards Grand Jury includes representatives from a wide range of retailer sectors around the World and is organised by Emap in association with Oracle.
