Harris Corporation to showcase latest advancements in broadcast server technology at CABSAT 2008
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, March 05 - 2008 at 11:27
- PRESS RELEASE
Harris Corporation an international communications and information technology company, will showcase its latest advancements in broadcast server system technology with the Middle East debut of the new NEXIO AMP media platform at CABSAT 2008.
Harris® NEXIO AMP™ pairs a high-performance, high-definition/standard-definition (HD/SD) server architecture with best-in-class content protection. Originally introduced at IBC2007 in Amsterdam, the new system combines the highest levels of I/O, data pathway, and storage redundancy with all the features broadcasters have come to expect in NEXIO™ servers — including integrated software codec support and automatic up/down/cross conversion.
Additional NEXIO™ platform enhancements available in NEXIO AMP™ include:
• Integrated codec support for the Panasonic® AVC-Intra™ and Sony® XDCAM® HD 35/50 formats;
• File-based workflow support for GXF, MXF, Panasonic® P2®, AVC-Intra™ and Sony® XDCAM® HD 35/50 files;
• Support for AFD (Active Format Descriptor), which optimises video aspect ratio conversion for broadcasters migrating to HD;
• Expanded timecode capability; and
• Closed captioning as file capability.
A key attribute of NEXIO AMP™ is its ability to host integrated, software-enabled media applications, which allow customers to reduce hardware expenditures and improve overall workflow efficiency. The first media applications to be introduced will focus on automation, channel branding, audio track manipulation and multiviewer I/O monitoring.
"At CABSAT 2008, NEXIO™ will once again demonstrate why it is a leading brand of video server, and why the recent enhancements establish NEXIO AMP™ as the platform of choice for channel playout applications and news and sports production," said Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications.
"The advanced architecture of NEXIO AMP™ breaks new ground for server feature sets and fault tolerance, resulting in a best-of-breed solution that customers can build their business around with confidence."
NEXIO AMP™ is among the wide range of Harris solutions that optimise the channel release and newsroom and editing workflows of today's broadcast operations.
Harris Broadcast Communications offers products, systems and services that provide interoperable workflow solutions that span the entire broadcast delivery chain. The Harris ONE approach brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that are ideal for emerging media business models and for customers upgrading media operations to digital and high-definition services.
