Harris Corporation awarded HD equipment contracts from Sharjah Television and Ajman Television in the United Arab Emirates
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, March 05 - 2008 at 13:31
- PRESS RELEASE
Harris Corporation an international communications and information technology company, has received orders from Sharjah Television and Ajman Television for a range of high-definition (HD) equipment for their broadcast playout facilities in the United Arab Emirates.
Under the Sharjah Television contract, Harris will provide its new NEXIO AMP™ NX3601HDX media platform with shared storage and NEXIO™ Playlist software for recording and playout, as well as a large number of 6800+™ core processing products.
"The NEXIO AMP™ platform was the ideal choice for our new playout facility at Sharjah Television because it combines the highest levels of content protection with all the features the market has come to expect from NEXIO™ servers," said Abdel Rahman Ahmad, technical director, Sharjah Television.
"In addition, the platform's format transparency, integrated software codec support and automatic up/down/cross conversion, along with its future potential to host software-enabled media applications, will provide us with an exceptionally streamlined, efficient workflow."
Under the contract from neighbouring Ajman Television, Harris will provide a 32x32 Integrator® router, the Inscriber® RTX™ broadcast graphics systems and a range of modular products from the industry-leading 6800+™ core processing platform. This represents the first combination of the Harris® NEXIO™ video servers and the Harris® H-Class™ ADC™ playout automation system at this independent facility.
"Because seamless integration is of paramount importance to our business, we were keen to purchase our servers and automation software from the same supplier," said Abdullah Murad, chairman of Ajman Independent Studios.
"Following stringent evaluation of the products available on the market, we decided on the Harris solution because the close integration between these two key products will help enable our workflows never to be compromised."
The NEXIO AMP™ advanced media platform pairs a high-performance, HD/SD server architecture with best-in-class content protection. The new system combines the highest levels of I/O, data pathway and storage redundancy with all the features broadcasters have come to expect in NEXIO™ servers — including integrated software codec support and automatic up/down/cross conversion.
Harris Broadcast Communications provides products, systems and services that deliver interoperable workflow solutions that span the entire broadcast delivery chain. The Harris ONE approach brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that are ideal for emerging media business models and for customers upgrading media operations to digital and high-definition services.
