Organized by Oman International Trade & Exhibitions (OITE) this Environmental Symposium on 'Sustainable development in the Use and Application of Renewable Energy for Mitigation of climate change' was sponsored by Oman Oil Marketing Company, a leading Omani fuel and lubricants marketing company.
Organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Environment & Climate Affairs, the Director General of Environmental Affairs, Mr. Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al-Muharrami welcomed speakers and delegates to the Gulf Eco environment symposium.
Presentations by a number of experts and specialists from the region and international organizations were made on the challenges of climate changes, renewable energy and solar desalination among others.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural Organisation presented a paper on UNESCO's contribution on application of renewable energy.
Other papers included Environmental Designs by Application of Renewable Energy by the Emirates Green Building Council; Challenges of Climate Change and Renewable Energy by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs; Status of Solar Desalination by the Middle East Desalination Research Centre; Application of Renewable Energy in Water Resources by the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources; Biofules as a Potential Alternative Energy Resource Towards a Cleaner Environment by the Sultan Qaboos University and PDO Efforts on Emission Reduction by Petroleum Development Oman to name a few.
Sponsors of the symposium Oman Oil Marketing company also made a presentation on the company's efforts towards environment conservation and management.
