The choice of the Iraqi Ministry of Health came following a proposal and implementation plan by AUB's Office of Regional External Programs (REP).

The training program, also known as the Emergency Health Rehabilitation Program (EHRP), is funded by the World Bank's International Development Association.

The training covers theoretical and technical approaches to emergency medical services and life support, using formal classroom lectures, practical hand-on exercises, and discussions.

The training modules include basic trauma life support, advanced care trauma for nurse, training of trainers, and major incident medical management support.

This two-week training program started on March 3, 2008. It ends on Sunday March 16, 2008 with a hands-on exercise, the "Emergency Response Drill," to be held at AUB's Peripheral Arts Parking Area that is adjacent to the AUB private clinics from 10:00 am till 1:00 pm.
