150 Lebanese technology developers informed, trained and inspired at Microsoft's TechDays 6 Beirut

Lebanese technology developers and Microsoft experts met on March 19th at Berytech Beirut for TechDays 6 Beirut, 'Digital is Business', a Microsoft event aimed to present and illustrate Microsoft's latest application development and design technology tools for developers.

With the recent launch of Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8, TechDays 6 Beirut focused on building a solid knowledge and skill base among developers interested in Microsoft's latest awe-inspiring operating systems.

"The future of technology lies in the hands of developers and the talent we see in Lebanon is exceptional and very promising", said Ghassan Chahine, Platform Strategy Lead (DPE), Microsoft Lebanon and NEPA Indirect Markets. "TechDays aims to inform, train and inspire local developers in every market, which will drive the next level of applications", added Chahine.

The workshop also included sessions exploring the latest on Microsoft's cloud platform Azure and building the developers' design and coding capabilities as they use the Windows 8 Modern User Interface, HTML5, CSS3 and Internet Explorer 10. Jeffrey Ramya, developer from Indevco at the event, commented "designing and building an application for Windows 8 is an experience of a new kind; it is fun, stimulating and intuitive at the same time". "All you need is to have a bright idea for an application and Microsoft will take care of the rest, be it the information, tools or training needed to build your dream app and get it out to the marketplace", added Ramya.

150 developers attended the 8-hour event, to grasp the ins and outs of Microsoft's latest operating systems from a development point of view and watch demonstrations by Microsoft experts of how to leverage the development tools at hand to create robust and useful applications. Participants were encouraged to be innovative and develop original applications for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 using the fresh know-how and instructions from the event, and submit them to the Windows Store.

L'Orient le Jour, An-Nahar Newspaper and Beirut Airport are few of many successful applications designed and built by Lebanese developers and enjoyed by consumers in Lebanon and all around the world.
