'We believe that social activities are indispensable pillars for the development of a healthy society. The trip accentuates Dubai Bank's commitment to Islamic values calling for such humane initiatives and is also meant to set an example for other institutions to follow suit and stand by this segment of children who are part and parcel of any community.'

Mr. Juma added that the Friends' Forum initiative, sponsored by the Bank, features three stages and is part of an a wider scheme being implemented in tandem with the DDHMS that includes a package of recreational programmes for people with special needs. 'These programmes are overseen by a group of specialists, with the DDHMS having included a number of volunteers from the two institutions to ensure the full involvement of all parties concerned,' he added.

Ms. Masouma Ahmed, the head of the DDHMS Social Services and Medical Care Unit, paid homage to the tireless efforts exerted within the project, and said, 'One of the key goals of the Friends' Forum initiative, which is in line with the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai, is to inculcate charity work as being a means for building up a healthy society,' she added.
