Following a thorough assessment of the data storage system being used by APICORP prior to the installation, PRO TECHnology Saudi Arabia proposed a solution consisting of Storageflex - Backup Disk, Qualstar Tape Library and Symantec-Veritas NetBackup 6.0 for Windows.
This will enable APICORP to operate with the benefit of a robust 'disk-to-disk-to-tape' solution within its KSA branch while creating a tape library for disaster use in the Bahrain branch, which will provide the necessary data to rebuild the crashed servers over a short period of time.
Eliminating the difficulties presented by managing a number of tapes solution and applications, PRO TECHnology Saudi Arabia has installed Symantec-Veritas NetBackup 6.0 for Windows.
This software can effectively manage the expanded data storage capacity of Storageflex - Backup Disk, which will accommodate daily, weekly and monthly backup activities, and then store the collated data within the secure Qualstar Tape Library.
Abdullah Almutrif, Managing Partner, PRO TECHnology Saudi Arabia said:
'As a leading contributor to the unprecedented growth of the regional storage market, Saudi Arabia's increasing demand for robust storage equipment and solutions has presented us with opportunities to further entrench our presence in this highly profitable market. Driven by our aim to deliver the most effective storage systems to manage the overwhelming amount of data in today's marketplace, the solution we have installed for APICORP is a fine example of the kind of customization, which we can provide to our clients to address their specific needs'.
Established in November 1975 in accordance with an international agreement among the ten member states of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), APICORP is the only financial institution in the Arab world that specializes in providing finance for the oil and gas industries in the region.
In addition, the Corporation also manages finance for the transportation and storage of oil, gas and petrochemicals. Its main activities include financing of exports of crude oil, petrochemicals, gas and other refined products from the Middle East, as well as Arab imports of oil-related equipment, machinery and services.
'With data Protection emerging as one of the most important issues in today's business landscape, we have fully recognised the importance of its effective management to ensure a high level of credibility across all aspects of our operations. We are aware that the loss of business-critical information may lead to serious implications, which is why we have chosen to partner with a leading Data Protection solutions provider such as PRO TECHnology Saudi Arabia. We are thoroughly impressed with the solution that has been delivered to us, which simplified the data back-up process while providing us with a sense of Data Protection in terms of safeguarding sensitive business information,' said Mohammed Elkhouly, IT Manager, APICORP.
PRO TECHnology Saudi Arabia entered the rapidly growing Saudi market through the launch of its local operations hub in Al Khobar in April 2006. With a clear directive to build a strong reputation in the then newly penetrated market, the company has introduced the newest models of its industry-leading Data Protection solution products.
Further augmenting its initial activities in Saudi, the leading solutions provider has also formed a strategic alliance with Jeddah-based Almariah Supplies & Services Company (AMSSCO), to represent PRO TECHnology's solutions and products.
