Alarm over rising building costs

Bahrain's cabinet raised concerns yesterday about the rapid price rise of building materials and the shortage of skilled workers, such as technicians and engineers. Government officials discussed ways of tackling the problem, said Gulf daily News, including creating a holding company to import construction materials and building a harbour to process them. Members pointed to the recent directives to slash customs fees on basic goods, including food, medicine and building items and said a further study should be conducted.
