CFA Jordan hosts CFA Regional Conference at the Dead Sea

CFA Jordan, a member society of the CFA Institute, focused on promoting ethical and professional standards within the Jordanian investment industry, hosted the CFA Regional Conference at the Marriott Hotel at the Dead Sea, last week.

The regional conference hosted 75 CFA society leaders from the USA, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, who come together every year to discuss the CFA Institute and its member societies' roles as contributors to the overall development of the investment communities they are active in. This is the first time that such an event takes place in Jordan.

Prior to the conference, CFA Jordan held a reception at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Center at the Dead Sea. Main speakers included H.E. Dr. Bassam Saket, Chairman of Jordan Securities Commission, Tom Welch, Board Member of the CFA Institute, William Foster, Executive Director of Mudara IOD, and Sami Nabulsi, CFA, President of CFA Jordan.

Speakers focused on the role of the CFA Institute in developing professional investment atmospheres and the effective cooperation that binds the Institute with different public and private investment organizations.

In his speech, President of CFA Jordan, Sami Nabulsi, CFA, welcomed the local and foreign experts, emphasizing on the efforts CFA Jordan and the Chartered Financial Analyst examination program exert to increase professionalism in the investment industry capacities and support local financial analysts.

Nabulsi also expressed the importance of partnership and cooperation between the private and public sectors to achieve the strategic objective of attracting investments.

Chairman of the Jordan Securities Commission, H.E. Dr. Bassam Saket, addressed the current status of Jordan's markets and the marked growth in both service and industry sectors, stressing on the national economy's potential to absorb yet more foreign direct investment.

Dr. Saket also highlighted the positive impact of CFA Jordan's activities on the local investment community.

Tom Welch, Board Member in CFA Institute, commended the national ambition to create a Jordanian economy comparable to that of economically advanced countries.

William Foster, Executive Director of Mudara IOD, praised the country's continuous efforts to attract investments and enhance human resources to build a strong base of expertise in various fields, highlighting the important role of Corporate Governance in maintaining a strong organizational structure that defends the growth of economy.
