The Dubai International Film Festival and D-Seven Motion Pictures awarded City 7 TV for their efforts in furthering the local film industry and providing in-depth media coverage of 'The Scene Club'; the UAE's first official film club and a networking initiative for UAE film lovers.

"City 7 TV sees itself as a core medium to deliver the UAE to the rest of the world," remarked Ron Kapadia, COO and Executive Director of the channel.

"In the broadcast sector there is no full-time English language TV station which provides a comprehensive showcase of the UAE. We are moving towards this unique positioning and broadcasting the outstanding film making talents of the cinematographic artists and directors/producers of the MENA region is a priority for us."

Presenter and Producer Tamara Al Gabbani proudly received the Plaque of Appreciation on behalf of City 7 TV and proceeded with her assignment in filming the "Emarati Night," which was the first official cinema screening and the big launch of 'The Scene Club'.

This credible effort by D seven attempts to showcase and highlight the film makers across the region. Among the films that were featured were: 'Under the Sun', 'Fear', ' Stuck Face', 'The Water Guards' and 'Mirror of Silence', which were all award-winning films produced by Emarati directors.

"The event was as informative as it was exciting being the first of its kind in the UAE," said Al Gabbani. "I think it is important that this event is supported and even sponsored, as it offers a platform for local talents and the film industry in general."

As part of their collaboration, City 7 TV will be working closely with the organizing committee, D-Seven Motion Pictures and will be at hand for all the projects of 'The Scene Club.' This is done with an aim of providing support for the film industry to come together and celebrate independent films.

"Partnering with D-Seven has been a pleasurable experience since it has provided a window for both organisations to synergise efforts for a common, much needed cause as well as exposure to the creative talent of the Gulf," said Ron Kapadia. "We acknowledge the support and opportunity given to us by D-Seven and their visionary and dynamic leader Nayla Al Khaja and look forward to bringing true local creations to the people of the UAE as well as the entire Middle East & North Africa region, " he added.

City 7 TV will actively propagate these local cinematic creations to the region and the rest of the world by dedicating a weekly film based programme branded as 'CINEMA ARABIYA' as well as a monthly special episode branded as 'THE SCENE CLUB' to ensure full exposure of the Dubai film making industry.
