Al Jazeera 'surprised' by Israeli boycott

  • Qatar: Tuesday, March 18 - 2008 at 08:08

The Al Jazeera news channel has issued a statement saying it was 'very surprised' to learn about the decision by Israeli authorities on Wednesday to boycott the channel, reported Gulf News. Israel had announced that it would impose sanctions on the Qatari-baded satellite network, accusing it of biased coverage in favour of the Hamas movement. Al Jazeera said it has not received any communication from the Israeli government regarding the boycott, and further stated that it has always stived to cover the news in a fair and balanced professional manner.
