This event was hosted at the Karak Al-Hasan Cultural Center between March 15th and 16th 2008.
Organized by the Ministry of Labor and supported by the Sustainable Achievement of Business Expansion & Quality Program' (SABEQ) of the USAID, the fair presented an effective platform for eager job seekers, employers, trainers and entrepreneurs to meet and interact within a dynamic setting.
With its continuous endeavors to play an active role in each of the governorates it operates within, Umniah launches products and services that match the varying needs of Jordanians. Further solidifying its role as an advocate of community development and seeing that the city of Kerak has a large number of young aged citizens, the company opted to take part in the job fair hosted for the south.
Through its booth at the event, Umniah met with young graduates who were eager to peruse careers within Jordan's dynamic telecommunications arena. Representatives from the organization were present throughout the 2-day event to receive application forms submitted by applicants and to answer the many questions asked by booth visitors about the company and its scope of work.
'We take such events very seriously and make it a point to be part of them,' explained Umniah's Human Resources Director Mr. Sami Jarrar. 'This particular event effectively granted us an opportunity to fulfil our Human Resources needs within the Southern Governorates of Jordan, as we at Umniah believe that it is of pivotal importance for us to constantly infuse our operations with new blood. We also fully understand that the youth of today would serve to add more dynamism and creativity to operational strategies implemented in our organization and the Jordanian telecommunications sector at large and this is why we encourage young applicants to apply for the various career opportunities presented to them at Umniah'.
Mr. Jarrar added that Umniah is proud to grant young and ambitious individuals an opportunity to play an active and positive role in the growth of Jordan's economy. 'The youth of today will move on to be the leaders of tomorrow and we at Umniah look forward to seeing them advance in their careers', he said.
With the objective of matching jobs with job seekers from across the Kingdom, the fair presented Jordan's youth, especially in the southern parts, with an opportunity to meet with human resource specialists and career counselors. It also presented them with the opportunity to attend a series of interactive training sessions that in turn helped enhance and develop their understanding of their career path while enhancing entrepreneurship.
It is important to note that the event this year also included an interactive theater. The theater was aimed at increasing awareness of job opportunities available in Jordan and change mindsets. Participants in the event's proceedings included companies working within Tourism and Hospitality, Information and Communication Technology, Manufacturing, Financial, and Agricultural sectors amongst others.
