Ruwad meets with international expert Mel Ford from UNDP

Ruwad Establishment recently held a meeting at its Sharjah headquarters with International Business Advisor Dr. Mel Ford and Dr Jumaa Matar, Programme Expert at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The meeting was attended by H.E Ali Salem Al Mahmoud, Ruwad Board member, and Khaled Makled, the Business Development Manager at Ruwad, and forms a part of the recent agreement between Ruwad and the UNDP that provides for a series of meetings to exchange experiences and views.

After studying Ruwad's experience of supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and the package of technical and funding facilities offered by the establishment, Dr. Mel Ford presented similar experiences of several countries, including China, Vietnam and Malaysia, in establishing business incubators for IT projects and developing support scheme for the SMEs.

Both parties exchanged ideas on the best policies to support and expand SMEs in a way that contributes to a sustainable economic growth in the emirate of Sharjah.

Ruwad Establishment has signed a key Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UNDP to jointly cooperate in the support of studies and research, and in the offering of technical support and development to SMEs, and to establish business incubators with the aim of enhancing the growth and competitiveness of these projects.
