With a host of new and upcoming events and attractions launching in the near future, Singapore is confident of generating nearly $11bn in tourism receipts and 10.8 million visitor arrivals for 2008.

'Singapore is a destination that always transforms itself. Middle East travellers to Singapore will continue to enjoy our world class attractions. On top of that, new and interesting experiences await them, such as taking in scenic views from the Singapore Flyer or enjoying the festivities during the first street circuit night race in Formula One history.' said Siew-Kheng Kang, Regional Director for South Asia, Middle East and Africa.

Spanning a diameter of 150m, the recently opened Singapore Flyer is the world's largest observation wheel. Located at the heart of Marina Bay, the Singapore Flyer is set to take Middle East travellers off for breathtaking views of the city and neighbouring countries.

Other brand new events scheduled for 2008 include the SingTel Formula Onetm Singapore Grand Prix in September - the world's first Formula Onetm night race.

This night time race set in the Marina Bay area and historic civic district is being welcomed by drivers and spectators alike as a must-experience event.

Held over three weekends from 20 September to 5 October, the Singapore GP Season will showcase various Formula Onetm - themed activities, entertainment events and lifestyle festivals to get fans and visitors all revved up during the race period. Amongst the many activities are the Singapore River Festival (10-28 Sept).

Already a draw for tourists by day, many of whom visit for its inherent historical charm and landmarks, the Singapore River is also known for its waterfront dining, vibrant nightlife and cool entertainment after sundown.

Highlights of the Singapore River Festival include a concert on the river featuring international artistes, outdoor parties and a float parade on the river.

Following the success of its first edition, the Singapore Biennale (11 September - 16
November) returns for a 10-week visual feast, featuring some of the world's frontrunners in contemporary paintings, installations, interactive electronic media and sculptures exhibited at unusual and significant venues around the city.

Singapore's largest international contemporary visual arts platform will also involve a new segment this year, known as the Boutique.

For a unique Formula One™ experience, motorsports fans must make a visit to the Formula One - The Great Design Race (25 August - 1 October) at the National Museum of Singapore.

This acclaimed exhibition from London's Design Museum traces the technology and lesser-known engineering facts and secrets of the Formula One race machines over the sport's 50-year history and unveils the design of the modern Formula One car in an exclusive exhibit.

Motoring enthusiasts and race fans will marvel at the rare display of iconic cars from each decade.

And in the not too distant future, by 2009 and 2010 respectively - the Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World at Sentosa - will host a mix of convention and exhibition facilities, themed attractions, entertainment and performance venues, casino gaming, recreation facilities, hotels and new retail concepts.

They will become Singapore's newest iconic business & leisure destinations that will continue Singapore's tourism landscape transformation.
